Laura Kleiner Wins Democratic Nod - 20th HD
Tonight, in Staunton City Council Chambers, Laura Lee Kleiner was resoundingly nominated to represent area Democrats, in the upcoming House of Delegates race, against incumbent Dickie Bell (R). Ms. Kleiner and a diverse group of speakers addressed the packed meeting room, each making a strong case for her nomination, before a crowd of energized 20th HD District Democrats from Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta County, Highland County and newly added precincts from Nelson County.
Laura, a Blacksburg native and recent Mary Baldwin College graduate, has planted her roots in Staunton. She has already chalked up numerous practical campaign experiences, at the local, state and national levels. This young woman is battle-tested in the Red Zone. Expect to see a well-managed GOTV effort.
Kleiner will deliver an aggressive challenge to Dickie Bell's poor record of support for local interests versus favoring elite special interests in Richmond and Washington D.C. Recognition that Virginia has become a battle-ground state, is likely to attract strong grass-roots support for state legislative candidates like Kleiner, who offers a refreshing alternative to bought & paid for politicians.
Game On Mr. Bell, a few yard signs are not enough to overcome your weak voting record and lack of support for the daily struggles of common folks of Augusta, Nelson and Highland counties. We know the fat cats in Richmond love you, but the citizens of your district, not so much. You have some explaining to do.
We are Fired Up and Ready to Go!

Local Protests Close Flooded Chemical Plant in China
from Financial Times via AmericanManufacturing.org
Oops, they did it again... Chinese engineering fail.
More at Reuters
"Protests in northeast Chinese have forced a chemical plant to close immediately. Officials are pledging to relocate it because of fears that it was prone to toxic leaks. The Fujia Chemical Plant, which produces the toxic chemical paraxylene, or PX, came close to being inundated with sea water during a tropical storm last week. Hours after the protest began, government officials issued a statement, saying it had ordered the factory closed."
