Biz school stats course give short shrift  to probability distributions that are not Normal. MBA quant jocks are not even thinking about this issue most of the time.

When low probability tails are in question, but catastrophic  consequences are on the line, look deeper young grasshoppers, that dangerous process may kill you or ... lead to a major financial collapse.

Data is your friend, treat it with respect or it will kick your ass.

A National Manufacturing Policy favoring American workers, not WalMart is way overdue.

We are all suffering (whether you know it or not) from the huge effing sell-off of our great industrial base by Reagan Admin starting in the '80's and tacitly supported by all Presidents till now. 

President Obama is framing this epic battle correctly. Unless you'all want your kids to be WalMart greeters and midnight clerks at 7-11, it's time to take a stand to protect the greatest engine of economic prosperity for middle class Americans- US Manufacturing!
