$65 Million PGI Expansion will bring jobs
"As part of the agreement, McDonnell approved a $750,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund and another $750,000 performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership to assist the project. Locally, city officials are asking City Council to approve a package that would give PGI a $550,000 cash grant, $1.75 million in tax rebates over six years and a gift of 15 acres of city-owned land next to PGI's current facility, which Assistant City Manager Jim Shaw said is assessed at about $600,000."
We have taken Mr. Landes (and other local leaders) to task for sitting on their hands while the manufacturing sector whithers away in Augusta County and especially Waynesboro. This area needs progressive (small p) leaders who understand the benefits of a strong manufacturing sector.
Looks like a little political heat from last November was just the wake-up call our local representatives needed. Better late, than never.

It's good to see that there are a few brave Mountain Valley Republicans, still around this part of the Valley.
