Faith & Torture... WWJD?

Source: Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life

Data from a Pew Research Center survey conducted April 14-21, 2009, among 742 American adults. Other religious groups are not reported due to small sample sizes.

Question wording: Do you think the use of torture against suspected terrorists in order to gain important information can often be justified, sometimes be justified, rarely be justified, or never be justified?

Religious people tend to see things in more of a black and white, good or evil mindset. Namely, the belief a person can actually "be" evil. I think it's unfortunate, because while consistent with principles of the Old Testament, it disregards the greater message of the New Testament, namely that none are beyond grace if they choose to receive it.

Personally, I would side with the rarely justified crowd, if only because I think once we completely take the option off the table, we could lock ourselves into a situation where we have no way to get certain intelligence that could definitely save lives.
