Polling Trend Reverses - Obama Lead Recovers

The Post-RNC/Palin bounce appears to have deflated, and economic bad news seem to be driving polling numbers back to pre-convo levels, centered around a +2% lead for Obama over McCain.

FiveThirtyEight.com using discrete event simulation methodology, based on thousands of computer simulation runs (iterations), is indicating a much stronger probability of an Obama win in Electoral College votes. 71.5% chance for Obama vs. 28.6% chance for McCain.

But the fact is that Obama is in a stronger position now than he was immediately before the conventions. We now have him winning the election 71.5 percent of the time, which is about as high as that number has been all year.
